With all the snow keeping us from getting out of our neighborhood by car, we went for a walk. It was about 20 degrees outside, but the sun was brilliant. It was truly a beautiful day! Of course, that's because I LOVE snow and cold weather. I would be thrilled if it stayed like this for 3 months--as long as they cleared the streets so we could get out for supplies, lol.

Stacy + Thomas | Hawaii Wedding Photography
When: December 2009
Where: Private Estate, Kaaawa, Oahu
What: Intimate Hawaii Wedding
A wedding on winter solstice - well that's pretty groovy. A wedding processional that includes music from the movie, The Princess Bride - that's very groovy in my book! There were lots and lots of personal touches at Stacy and Thomas' wedding that truly made it a celebration of their love and their family. One of the big ones that stood out with me was that Stacy wore her grand mum's wedding dress. How many brides do that nowadays?!?!? And I loved the matching vintage and elegant look of her veil and headdress.
After the ceremony their family and guests enjoyed a home cooked fine dinner, and plenty of laughs and smiles. A perfect way to end their perfect intimate wedding. To Stacy and Thomas and their family.....MAHALO! ;o)
Cheers!

P.S. Be sure to have a look at a few more fun photos in their gallery on my Facebook page.

More Winter Weather
We woke up to more snow this morning. It's surprising because we didn't get more than a few flurries last winter, or the winter before, I think. I love snow, so I was thrilled. Kelly, not so much. He thinks the next Ice Age has arrived when it drops below 70. And of course, this meant he couldn't go in to the office, or more importantly, to Starbucks. Because we know that's what's really important!

Sushi and Birds
Up until this past year or so, there is no way on earth I would have eaten sushi. Now I love it! I usually pick some up at Publix when I do my grocery shopping, and have it for lunch.
This evening, when I went outside to feed the cats, I noticed hundreds of these turkey vultures migrating through our land. They would fly in shifts, slowing making their way through the woods, stopping every so often in the trees. It was bizarre to watch.

More Decorating Progress
One of these days, I might actually be finished! But this morning I picked up my new desk and bookcase from ModerNash, a great little company that takes orders for Ikea goods and runs down to Atlanta and brings them back. It sucks that the closest Ikea is in Atlanta, but nice that I can still things without paying Ikea's outrageous shipping costs. And even get things that Ikea won't ship. The shipping on this bookcase on desk through Ikea was almost twice the price of the actual items! The guys at ModerNash did it for a third of that.
These are the first items I have purchased from Ikea, and I was very pleased at how easily it all assembled. Often when buying furniture that needs assembly, you find that things don't always line up just right and you have to improvise or force things. That was not the case with Ikea.
I love my new furniture!

M & C's Quest for Holy Matrimony
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Michelle and Craig during their scouting trip to Hawaii for their "semi-destination" wedding. Both of them currently live in California, but Craig is originally from Oahu and still has lots of family here, thus the "semi" part.
I really enjoyed talking story with them about their wedding plans, and the more I learned about them the more excited I was about possibly shooting their wedding. They are both engineers, but have a fabulous creative streak also. Needless to say I love working with clients like this because...well I'm not ashamed to admit it but I am a big science/techie geek myself (not to imply that Michelle or Craig are geeks mind you!) who also enjoys flexing the 'ol creative muscles. BUT Michelle and Craig are taking the creative and DIY thing up a whole other notch (e.g. think making her wedding dress!).
Thus when I got their contract in the mail the other day, I was delighted to see their Save the Date (STD) that was included in the envelope. All I could think was "Shazam! - this is waaay groovy" and then promptly put it on my frig, which is of course the sacred spot in all houses near and far for that stuff which is cool. :o)
Be sure to check out their STD below...Michelle drew and designed it herself. I love the comic book theme and of course it is a one-of-a-kind work of art. She designed it so that the center piece is a magnet which is always handy to have on the frig. If this is their STD, I can't wait to see what else these two come up with for their wedding.
Cheers!

P.S. For those local couples that may not be as artistically inclined as Michelle and need a little help w/ their wedding stationary, I highly recommend Shauna at Fresh, Inc. in the Windward Mall in Kaneohe. She offers some really cool and environmentally friendly options and can help create a custom design that is totally you.

More Progress on the Office Renovations
A little more progress has been made on the office renovations. Kelly got the woodwork at the ceiling and around the windows and the baseboards done. I got the curtains hung. I LOVE my curtains. In fact, I kind of based the whole room on the curtains. I was inspired by my friend Carrie's Blog Entry.
I wanted that green velvet settee, too, but it wouldn't fit in the room!

Stella + Joy + Diva | Hawaii Portrait Photography
When: December 2009
What: Hawaii Fine Art Pet-ography
"Every dog must have his day." ~ Jonathan Swift
What can I say about this fun, energetic, slobbery (and did I mentioned fun) portrait session? Except that I wish I had the opportunity to shoot more doggie portrait sessions. *hint hint: if you are interested in having a fine art photo session for your dog, contact me for more info about custom packages*
And in case you could not guess...yes, I love dogs! ;oD
Cheers!
