Sunshine + Joe {sneak preview}

When: February 2009
Where: Hickam AFB, Oahu
What: Intimate Hawaii Wedding

This is probably one of the toughest weddings I have photographed due to the weather conditions; but at the same time, I think I perhaps captured a few of my favorite wedding images to date. The winter weather here in Hawaii has been especially brisk lately - lots of wind, rain, and more wind. The day of Sunshine and Joe's small outdoor wedding had all of the above, though thankfully the rain let up for us! The wind was so bad we even had to shoot some of the portraits in the bathroom at the park - can to guess which ones? ;o)

Despite the weather, both Sunshine and Joe had high spirits and kept what was important in perspective. They were getting married! As a photographer I am thankful they kept that positive attitude as it certainly came out in the photographs. As a bonus of the day, Sunshine did a quick change of clothes and we headed over to an old plane on the base for more "vintage" style photos. The last set below is perhaps one of my favs from their wedding day.

The Covington Family v.2 {sneak preview}

When: February 2009
Where: Ko Olina Beach Villas, Hawaii
What: Family Portrait Session

The Covingtons were recently back vacationing in Hawaii, and I was delighted when they asked me to photograph them again. I had the pleasure of photographing them during their stay in 2007, so you may recognize them from this post.

I know I mentioned this before, but I am always amazed at how much kids change and grow up in a relatively short amount of time. Mind you, I had not seen Fisher and Adler in about 1.5 years, but they are truly starting to become little ladies. (This is besides the point of them being cute as can be, which of course runs in the family! lol). I think one of my top favs from the photos below is of the two of them hugging on the beach. I hope when they are grown up with their own children that they look at that photo and enjoy a happy childhood memory of their holiday while in Hawaii!

Wow, it's been a long time since I updated my blog, and for that, I apologize. First, I got really sick with two nasty ear infections and a sinus infection that just wouldn't go away. I had shots and antibiotics and decongestants and the whole bit. After several weeks, I finally started feeling better again. Then I had Lasik surgery on my eyes and took a few days off from the computer.

So if you were waiting on me for anything, I'm still playing catch-up. Hopefully it won't be long before everything is back on track!

I hope you are all enjoying this weekend. It was a rare snowfall here in Kingston Springs. Apparently areas south of us, like Columbia, Murfreesboro, and Pulaski all got about 6 inches of the fluffy white stuff, but we only got a little over an inch here. I love snow, so I am dissappointed we didn't get more! Kelly is baking Rosemary bread, I am updating blogs and Facebook, and the cats are snoozing. It's a lovely weekend! Thought I would share a few snapshots I took this morning before the snow melted.

Oh, and a shout out to my wonderful mom, who is 71 years old today--Happy Birthday, Mom!

A Girl's Best Friend

I know it is supposed to be diamonds, but this gal is going to throw her hat in with the men on this one and say it is her dog. :o)

Annie-belle (and her sister ~ Laurie) turned two this week. Looking back over the past year, I am amazed at how much they have accomplished and am thankful for all the "adventures" we have shared together. (Annie-belle has her CD and RE titles, and Laurie is a CH and has her RA - hurray). I know - seems cheesy but any fellow dog lover will certainly understand!

In celebration of their birthday, thought I would post some recent snapshots of them.

Cheers!

Annie-belle: Boy, that wind sure be a blowing.

Laurie: Yeah - no kidding! It's messing up my Scottie 'brows. But it sure is a helluva view.

Annie-belle: Do you see any whales yet?
Laurie: Nope, do you?

Hawaii Dog Portrait Photography
Annie-belle: Ah mom, do we have to take ANOTHER photo? Sheesh.

Laurie: Blast, will that wind ever calm down? It's still messing with my Scottie good looks. Can we have our treats now??

And Baby Will Make Three {sneak preview}

When: February 2009
Where: Windward Oahu, Hawaii
What:Maternity Session

Kara and Tom are expecting their first little one, and wanted to capture some maternity photographs before the big day...which by-the-way is very soon! I know it may seem old fashioned, but I think it is pretty awesome that they still don't know if the baby is a boy or girl yet (by their choice). Guess for me it adds a little more excitement and anticipation to an already emotional experience. :o)

Weather during winter in Hawaii can be tricky, and starting a couple of days before our photo session it was pretty windy and stormy. But the day of our shoot we had beautiful blue skies, though twas still a bit windy. No worries though - we had a great time anyway and I think captured some mighty nice images. For now I'm posting a few "teasers", though I suspect I may have to post a few more once I finish processing them all.

Enjoy!

Catching up with travels...

I finally had a little down time last month so caught up with processing some travel, nature, and landscape photographs. Thus I thought I'd post a few of them for a little variety in the blog and to satiate my landscape/nature photo pals!

The ones below are from my trip to California last October. My photog friend, Renee, and I took a little photo safari (to Joshua Tree NP and Idyllwild), and as you can see we enjoyed a variety of stuffs to photograph and of course had lots of fun. As strange as it may sound, it was nice to shoot something other than beach, palm trees, and ocean. :oP

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!
