Dancer in the City

Last month I shared some images of Parrish dancing in downtown Nashville. I wasn't thrilled with the results because I was shooting too long before the sun set. The hour before the sun sets is the best possible light. Prior to that, the sun is too high in the sky, and too bright. So this time, I made sure to wait for the best light...so glad I did. Here are some of the images from the second shoot...

Nichole + Andy

When: July 2008
Where: Lanikai, Oahu
What:Hawaii Destination Wedding ~~~~ Nichole and Andy are from Georgia and decided to have an intimate destination wedding on the windward side of Oahu. Nichole has to be one of the happiest brides I have ever photographed. I don't think she stopped smiling the whole time I was there. One of my favs from the day is the photo of her opening the bottle of champagne...Cheers!

Another Semi-Urban Session

We had such a great time creating these images! Ben and Andi, and their kids, were such good sports, and up for almost anything. It stopped raining just before the session, thank goodness, but the skies remained overcast. This is PERFECT for shooting! I hope you all enjoy this little sneak peak into the session...

Fare thee well, olde friend...

You have served me well...but it's time for you to retire to that studio in the sky. Or at the very least, the hands of someone who won't demand quite so much of you in your old age. My Fuji S2 Pro was my first Digital SLR camera. It's 5 years old now, and no longer up to the demands of my sessions and weddings. It will probably be listed on ebay very shortly. But it's been a wonderful camera that helped immensely to improve my skills and my art.

Now, it's been replaced by...the new Nikon D700! I practically stalked the man in brown (UPS) yesterday waiting for it to arrive. Odd how when I am not expecting a package, UPS comes down my street late morning, but if I am waiting for something, they don't get here until after 5 PM! So by the time the batteries were charged and I could play, I was ready to sleep--I had been up since 5 AM to take my daughter to the airport to go back to college. But I was able to play with it some today and--man, this camera really rocks! It will take me about a month to read the 444 page owner's manual--and even longer to understand what I read. But oh, how sweet it is! I can't wait to really put it through the paces.

A Girl in the Square (town square that is)

Wow, it's been a little while since I blogged, because I have been having trouble with bandwidth issues. Anyway, that's all resolved, and now I can share what I have been up to!

These gorgeous photographs were taken a couple of weeks ago, in a session that simply rocked. Everything just fell into place and it was fantastic! The weather was unseasonably cool and dry for the south in August--it was only 86 degrees with the humidity hovering in the 65% range. Considering it's usually 98 degrees with the suffocating humidity closer to 80%, this was blissful! The lighting was perfect--just overcast enough that the sky was like a giant softbox. And the location was fantastic, as was the wardrobe and the model.

I hope you enjoy these, and I will have more to share in the next couple of days!

Where: Lanikai Beach
The Heironimus family wanted a bon voyage family photo session before they left Hawaii for the Mainland. And of course Lanikai was the perfect backdrop. All the best to them in their new home!!

Fetch Anyone?

Annie-belle the Scottie Dog with her (current) favorite doggie toy. The amount of noise this little squeaky makes is something to write home (or on my blog) about!
