When I was a boy
My dad said to me.
Go out in the yard
And climb up a tree.
And while you're up there
Take a good look around.
Then when it gets dark,
Come back down to the ground.

The journey of a thousand miles often starts with you barking up the wrong tree.

Hee heeeee! Love it! :)
lol! that's very sound advice indeed! :)
Thank you Charity and Willow. I think that many fathers tell their children to 'go climb a tree.'
Not all of them will tell us, that once we get up there, we should take a good look around. (It's such a different way to look at the world-from the top of a tree- isn't it?)
And I don't think even my father told me that when it got dark, I should come back to the ground. I mean - I think I made that part up.
Thanks again for your comments.
to look from a different perspective is sometimes the way to see things as they realy are
Robert - Thank you. You are so very right. A new perspective can sometimes make all the difference.
I like to use these little, silly, sentimental lyrics to remind myself not to take myself too seriously.
When I was little I would climb a tree as high as I could, but instead of taking advantage of the view when I got to the top, I would spend all my time up there fretting about how to get down.
Uh-oh, I feel a post materializing here... :o|
That was a lovely poem and good advice!
Roadgurl5 - I think taking a good look around, is always a good idea when our first instinct is to fret.
Please let me know when you write the posting.
Thanks!
